On 7 May 2021, East China University of Science and Technology's Sports Festival was grandly held at the Fengxian Campus. During this event, students from the International College of Excellence in Engineering demonstrated unity, determination, and courageous effort, fully 

showcasing their high sporting enthusiasm and commendable spirit.

Behold the International Elite Engineering School athletes on the track, striving with all their might, each darting towards the finish line like a swift arrow; on the lush green shot put field, with each athlete's light yet powerful throw, shot put balls traced beautiful parabolic arcs through the air; Before the sun-drenched sandpit, athletes displayed agile forms, light as swallows, their leaps earning thunderous applause from spectators; the Academy's high jumpers, on the crimson runway, ran, leapt, soared, landed – arms swinging with youthful vigour, legs channelling power, their entire bodies tracing magnificent arcs...

The afternoon's fun competitions further showcased the unity and enthusiasm of Chimie Shanghai students. Long rope skipping, dart throwing, celebrity basketball, drumming in unison, spinning the universe, tug-of-war... The students' cheers rang out incessantly. Regardless of success or failure, victory or defeat, every face beamed with joyous smiles as each student poured out their youthful passion.

The tranquil waters of Tonghai Lake ripple as dragon boats surge forward. On 9th May, ECUST's annual dragon boat race arrived in full splendour, riding the spring breezes of May !

Peach blossoms blush crimson, apricots glow golden, May's lake waters dance with spring winds; Dragon boat races, dragon boat races, Behold our splendid young men... The venue remained Tonghai Lake, where blue-and-white fish-scale painted hulls dazzled the eye. Crimson triangular flags fluttered at the bows, indigo oars mirrored the emerald waters, reeds swayed gently, and swans stretched their necks. On the lakeside plaza of Tonghai Lake, a temporary marquee stood erected, where the referees awaited the arrival of the champions.

A whistle sounded in the distance, and four boats launched simultaneously! ‘Thump-clang! Thump-clang! Thump-thump-clang...’ As the gongs and drums resounded, the paddlers thrust and pulled in unison. Each stroke sent ripples across the surface, the water's reaction propelling the boats forward swiftly. The coxswains and drummers, each fulfilling their role, worked in seamless coordination.

The 200-metre course would decide the victor within five minutes. With four heats concluded, the fiercely contested dragon boat races drew to a close, though the athletes' roaring chants still echoed in our hearts. The spirit of unity, collaboration, and relentless striving displayed by Chimie Shanghai's students stirred our blood and filled us with pride. Their ambition and ingenuity shone brilliantly throughout May, radiating boundless vigour !

The Sports Festival has drawn to a close, with our national table tennis athletes fully demonstrating their prowess, showcasing youthful vigour, and embodying a spirit of unity and perseverance. Moss flowers bloom endlessly; Sunday radiates youth. May the students of Chimie Shanghai, like the present moment, pour forth their passion with boundless energy, their spirit soaring like a rainbow !
