FÉDÉRATION GAY-LUSSAC(FGL Alliance) was established in 1994 in honor of the renowned French chemist and physicist Joseph Louis Gay-Lussac (1778–1850).
As France’s first alliance of engineering schools, the FGL Alliance comprises 20 top-tier chemical engineering schools with 19 national research laboratories. It has trained over 50,000 engineers worldwide. The alliance aims to strengthen ties between member schools and industries, promote academic and research exchanges, and enhance the global reputation of France’s engineering education system. Through sharing educational resources and fostering communication among students, the alliance achieves personalized education and cultivates world-class chemical engineers with strong professional competencies and international perspectives.
The FGL Alliance consists of three chemical and chemical engineering professional associations to enhance the connection between member schools and the industrial sector as well as society. They are respectively:
L’ Union des Industries Chimiques
La Société Chimique de France
L’ Union Nationale des Associations Françaises d’ Ingénieurs Chimistes
FGL graduates are trained to master chemical engineering fundamentals, advanced experimental skills, French and English proficiency, global outlooks on the development trends of related disciplines, and the good scientific literacy and innovative spirit. They excel in research, teaching, technical development, and industrial management.
East China University of Science and Technology (ECUST) has partnered with the FGL Alliance for over a decade. More than 150 ECUST students have participated in such exchange program, with most graduates employed by leading French and Sino-French enterprises.
