International Elite Engineering School Undergoes On-Site Accreditation by the French Commission for Engineering Degrees (CTI)

On 29–30 April 2026, an accreditation panel from the French Commission for Engineering Degrees (Commission des Titres d’Ingénieur, CTI) conducted a two-day on-site assessment of theInternational Elite Engineering School at East China University of Science and Technology’s eligibility to award French engineering degrees. Xuan Fuzhen, President of East China University of Science and Technology, and Zhu Weihong, Vice-President, attended the relevant events, alongside the President and members of the French Group of Chemical Engineering Schools (FGL), representatives from industry and alumni.

During the visit, the expert panel conducted a comprehensive and in-depth assessment of the School’s educational system through various methods, including thematic presentations, roundtable discussions, site visits and document reviews. Xing Mingyang, the Chinese Dean of the School, and Jacques, the French Dean, delivered thematic presentations, whilst university leaders engaged in formal discussions with the expert panel. The panel held in-depth discussions with representatives from the FGL Federation, corporate representatives from Suez, Sysco and Air Liquide, alumni representatives, as well as Chinese and international staff and students, and the School’s administrative team. They also conducted on-site visits to laboratories and teaching buildings, comprehensively examining core aspects such as talent development, industry-university collaboration, faculty development and quality assurance.

The expert panel highly commended the School’s achievements in introducing France’s elite engineering education system and promoting the integration of Chinese and French higher education. They acknowledged the School’s outstanding accomplishments in establishing a training framework, deepening industry-university collaboration, developing the teaching staff, and refining quality assurance mechanisms. The panel affirmed the School’s engineering training model, which combines Chinese characteristics with an international perspective, and offered constructive suggestions for the continuous optimisation of talent development models.

Moving forward, the School will continue to deepen Sino-French cooperation, refine its training system, and continuously enhance its educational standards and international influence, with the aim of cultivating more high-calibre, internationally-minded engineering elites for the nation.
