- Fundamental theory of polymerisation reactions (reaction mechanisms, phase theory, novel polymerisation methods, etc.)
- Design and development of advanced polymers (construction of structures and functions such as low-dielectric, high-strength and high-modulus, bio-based, biodegradable and hyperbranched polymers; AI-assisted design/preparation)
- Polymerisation Reaction Engineering and High-Efficiency Equipment (kinetics, mass transfer processes, high-efficiency reactors, process simulation and development, etc.)
- Functional Materials, Devices and Their Applications (flexible sensing, shape memory, electromagnetic shielding, functional diagnostics and therapy, fluorescent anti-counterfeiting, etc.)

Research Projects
- Over the past five years, he has led eight major national projects, including National Major R&D Programmes, National Key R&D Programmes, and National Natural Science Foundation projects; seven provincial and ministerial-level projects, such as those funded by the Shanghai Municipal Government; and over 40 major industry-academia-research collaboration projects, including Sinopec’s “Ten Dragons” R&D initiative.
