During the summer vacation,the"Longyuan Torch"practice team of teachers and students from the International Elite Engineering School went to Lanzhou City,Gansu Province.Focusing on Jincheng Intelligent Manufacturing,the cultural heritage of the Yellow River,and the spirit of the monument,the team carried out a series of rich social practice activities to explore the unique charm and cultural connotations of this city.

Jincheng Intelligent Manufacturing:Exploring the Frontier of Industry and Feeling the Power of Technology

On July 14,the practice team visited the Lanzhou Chemical Research Center of PetroChina.Under the guidance of the center's teachers,the team members learned about the development history,research fields,and major scientific research achievements of the center through watching introduction videos and visiting the center's exhibition hall.

Subsequently,the team members visited the Synthetic Rubber Research Institute, Polyolefin Resin Research Institute,Chemical Catalyst Research Institute,and Petroleum Refining Research Institute in turn.Through communication and learning with the researchers and engineers on site,the team members gained a deeper understanding of the main research directions of each institute and obtained a more profound understanding of the development of the petrochemical field from basic research to practical application and from traditional processes to innovative technologies.

During the symposium,the center's teachers introduced the company's recruitment situation.Alumni from Huazhong University of Science and Technology who worked at the center shared their valuable experience in job hunting and work with the team members,providing references for the students'future career planning.

On July 16,the practice team visited the Gansu Provincial Water Resources and Hydropower Engineering Corporation for an exchange.In the company's exhibition hall,the team members learned about the company's development history,project performance,and scientific and technological achievements through multimedia,physical displays,and 3D models.This gave the team members a preliminary understanding of water conservancy project construction.Subsequently,under the guidance of technical personnel,the team members visited the company's laboratory.Through learning and communication,the team members not only gained relevant knowledge but also felt the spirit of hard struggle and fearlessness of difficulties of water conservancy workers.They also recognized the important significance of water conservancy construction in improving people's livelihood.

The Cultural Heritage of the Yellow River:Tracing the Millennia-Old Civilization and Protecting the Mother River

On July 17,the practice team visited the Gansu Provincial Museum.The museum has a rich collection,including more than 80,000 precious cultural relics and natural specimens.It is especially representative of the Neolithic colored pottery,Han Dynasty bamboo slips,Silk Road cultural relics,and Buddhist art collections.

The team members visited the exhibition halls of"Gansu Silk Road Civilization,""Gansu Colored Pottery,"and"Red Gansu"in turn.Bronze galloping horse,medical bamboo slips,lotus-shaped glass pedestal...Under the vivid and detailed interpretation of the tour guide,the team members closely felt the thousand-year cultural heritage of this land from prehistoric civilization to the prosperity of the Silk Road.They profoundly experienced the unique charm of the collision and integration of different cultures here.

On the same day,the practice team followed in the footsteps of General Secretary Xi Jinping and came to Zhongshan Bridge.Standing on the bridge,the team members deeply felt that the Yellow River not only gave birth to the brilliant Chinese civilization but also carried the spiritual genes and emotional of the Chinese nation.We should not only protect the ecological environment of the Yellow River well but also deeply explore the profound connotations and contemporary values contained in it.We should inherit the historical and cultural heritage and the national roots and let the Yellow River culture shine more brilliantly in the new era.

Monumental Spirit:Continuously Passing on the Red Gene and Tempering the Original Aspiration

On July 18,the practice team visited the Eighth Route Army Lanzhou Office Memorial Hall,the Lanzhou Campaign Memorial Hall,and the Lanzhou Martyrs'Cemetery to explore the revolutionary spirit on this red land.Through precious historical materials and interpretation,they reviewed the heroic deeds of the Western Route Army and the tragic process of the Lanzhou Liberation Campaign.They solemnly mourned in front of the martyrs'memorial tower.The team members said that they would always remember the revolutionary spirit and practice the mission and responsibility of the new-era youth with practical actions.

This practice deepened the team members'understanding of the national and social conditions through the combination of industry,education,and research,cultural immersion,and red education.It also showed the pragmatic style of the students of the International College of Excellent Engineers who know and act as one.In the future,the college will continue to guide students to grow their talents and serve society through practice.
