On the morning of October 20, 2025, the 40th Joint Management Committee meeting between East China University of Science and Technology (ECUST) and Lübeck University of Applied Sciences was successfully held in the Yifu Building on ECUST's Xuhui Campus. The meeting was divided into two parts. The first part was co-chaired by Vice President of ECUST and academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Professor Zhu Weihong, and Vice President of Lübeck University of Applied Sciences, Professor Karen Cabos. The second part was presided over by Deputy Director of the International Cooperation and Exchange Office of ECUST, Tang Jimin.
The German delegation included Vice President of Lübeck University of Applied Sciences, Professor Karen Cabos, Head of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, Professor Andreas Schaefer, Deputy Head of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, Professor Monique Janneck, Director of the China Project Coordination Office, Ms.Nicola Graessner, and Project Coordinator, Ms.Peng Lan.The Chinese delegation included Dean of the Academic Affairs Office, Professor Zhu Xuedong, Deputy Director of the International Cooperation and Exchange Office, Professor Zhan Wangcheng, Deputy Dean of the International Elite Engineering School, Professor Huang Guotuan, Deputy Dean, Associate Professor Wang Li, Deputy Head of the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering at the School of Information Science and Engineering, Associate Professor Wang Nan, Professor Lei Juying from the School of Resources and Environmental Engineering, Coordinator of the Cooperative Education Program at the International Cooperation and Exchange Office, Yang Yufei, and Sino-German cooperative education program contact person, Zhou Wenjia.
At the beginning of the meeting, Vice President Zhu Weihong extended a warm welcome to the German guests and expressed his sincere gratitude for their long-term support. In the first part of the meeting, both Chinese and German sides jointly reviewed and summarized the progress made since the 39th Joint Management Committee meeting held in Lübeck in July 2025. The German representatives provided a detailed introduction to the academic and living conditions of the Sino-German joint training program students studying in Lübeck, while the representatives from ECUST reported on the academic progress and living experiences of the German exchange students studying at their university. Both sides highly affirmed each other's work and were delighted with the students'growth and progress. Vice President Zhu Weihong reviewed the fruitful achievements made in the Sino-German joint training program over the past 20 years. He pointed out that although the project will come to a successful conclusion in the summer of 2026, it is not the end of the cooperation, but a new beginning. ECUST will continue to cooperate with Lübeck University of Applied Sciences to jointly promote academic exchanges and the development of international friendly relations.
In the second part of the meeting, both Chinese and German sides engaged in in-depth discussions on the establishment of future bilateral exchange programs between the two universities. The German side first introduced their project plans. Subsequently, both sides exchanged their views on the future projects and feasible plans.
The meeting concluded in a friendly and enthusiastic atmosphere. The successful holding of this meeting not only provided a platform for free exchange and collision of ideas between the Chinese and German sides, but also injected new vitality into the cooperation between ECUST and Lübeck University of Applied Sciences in international education and elite engineering talent training, contributing new wisdom and strength to the development of related fields.
