2025-11-15

On 15 November 2025, the third meeting of the Industry-Education Integration Development Promotion Committee of the International College of Excellence in Engineering at East China University of Science and Technology was successfully held. The meeting brought together representatives including Stéphanie FOUCHER from Syensqo, Li Li from Saint-Gobain, French Dean Jacques MERCADIER, Vice Dean of the School Wang Li, French school Representative Régis GAUTIER, Head of French Language Instruction Rémi Eric POREE, and student representatives. Participants engaged in in-depth discussions on key issues concerning the cultivation of outstanding engineering talent.

The meeting formally established an annual regular meeting mechanism, providing robust institutional safeguards for the School's sustainable development. Regarding talent cultivation, a series of significant measures were confirmed: starting with the 2025 cohort, overseas exchanges will become a compulsory component, advancing the internationalisation of the teaching language. Concurrently, efforts will focus on refining internship arrangements, with all parties acknowledging the vital importance of six-month full-time internships for students' career development. Multiple corporate representatives expressed strong willingness to deepen university-enterprise collaboration.

The meeting prioritised discussions on optimising the competency development framework for the engineering phase. Plans include refining the competency indicator system in alignment with Ministry of Education standards and establishing a more scientific assessment mechanism for competency attainment. Regarding curriculum development, the School will integrate cutting-edge content such as big data into existing courses to ensure teaching content remains contemporary.

As the School's internationalisation progresses, a cohort of French students will soon commence their studies and research placements in China, demonstrating the deepening bilateral exchange between institutions.

This meeting signifies new strides in the International School of Excellence in Engineering's efforts to deepen industry-academia integration and advance internationalisation. The School will continue refining its talent development framework, committed to cultivating outstanding engineering professionals with global perspectives and innovative capabilities, thereby providing robust human capital support for national strategic development and industrial upgrading.
